Why LILPE

Checks that plug into the rest of your payment stack

  • One request pattern

Verification uses the same integration pattern as payments and payouts.

  • Status notifications

Notifications when a verification changes status, so your systems don't poll.

  • Sandbox and production

Separate keys and data for testing and live checks.

How it works

Where checks fit in onboarding

The order most onboarding flows use. Decide in advance which results approve automatically and which go to a person.
  1. 1

    Sign-up

Collect the details each check needs, with consent where the law requires it.

  2. 2

    Person and business

PAN, GST, KYC layers and KYB, depending on who you onboard.

  3. 3

    Bank account

Confirm the account before the first payout or refund.

  4. 4

    Decide or review

Approve clear results; send mismatches to a reviewer with the reason.

FAQ

Verification questions

Which verification checks does LILPE offer?

Which checks are available through LILPE, in what form and what each returns, is confirmed during onboarding. The guides linked on this page explain how each check works and what to look for.

What's the difference between KYC and verification?

Regulated KYC is a legal obligation for entities regulated by RBI, set out in its KYC Master Direction. Many other businesses run similar checks for their own risk reasons. LILPE provides verification checks; it doesn't take on a regulated entity's KYC obligations.

Penny drop or penny-less: which should I use?

A penny drop sends a small amount to the account and reads back the name the bank holds for it. A penny-less check confirms the account without moving money. Which methods are available, and what each returns, is confirmed during onboarding.

Does LILPE offer Aadhaar authentication?

This site doesn't say LILPE offers Aadhaar authentication. Online Aadhaar authentication is available only through entities UIDAI has approved; our Aadhaar guide explains what to check before using any Aadhaar-based method.

Can we test checks before going live?

Yes. Sandbox and production use separate keys and data, and sandbox access is provided during onboarding.
